How to start the Burden of Proof mission in Starfield 

In Starfield, you will encounter the Crimson Fleet, a significant faction within the game. This faction plays a pivotal role in three primary quests, one of which involves the imperative mission of uncovering evidence pertaining to their illicit operations, with the aim of bringing them to justice.

As you progress through the Echoes of the Past quest and receive the “Search Carter’s Locker” objective, an unexpected mission, known as “Burden of Proof,” spontaneously emerges. In this unforeseen turn of events, you must embark on a quest within Starfield to find critical evidence. However, it’s essential to note that the “Search for Evidence” task associated with this mission can only be accomplished during the course of the Echoes of the Past quest.

How to find Burden of Proof Evidence in Starfield 

While embarking on the Echoes of the Past quest in Starfield and aiming to unlock Carter’s Locker, follow the arrow signs to lead you to the desired location. Once you arrive at the locker room, open the main door and step inside. You’ll find Carter’s Locker towards the beginning of the room, positioned as the second-to-last on the left side. Open the locker to obtain Carter’s Gig, the crucial evidence, and receive a heart that enhances your character’s fortitude and pain tolerance.

Upon securing the evidence, the quest objective will be updated, prompting you to return the evidence to Lt. Toft. Completing this task will ultimately conclude the Burden of Proof quest. You can typically find the Lieutenant at the Operations Centre of UC Vigilance.
