“Absolute Power” is a faction mission for the Crimson Fleet where you need to find a way to upload a virus in Starfield.
“Absolute Power” marks a pivotal milestone within the Crimson Fleet questline in Starfield, serving as one of its ultimate faction missions. The mission’s duration may seem prolonged, but this perception primarily arises if you decide to employ stealth tactics to avoid direct combat. Opting for a full-on assault is consistently the swiftest approach.
The core objective of this mission revolves around confronting Ayumi Komiko. The methods available for achieving this goal diverge widely, contingent upon the decisions you make along the way.
How to unlock the Absolute Power mission
Upon successfully wrapping up “The Best There Is” mission in Starfield, the questline will seamlessly advance to “Absolute Power” as your next mission within the Crimson Fleet storyline.
Initiate a conversation with Commander Kibwe Ikande to chart your course towards Neon City, situated on the planet Volii Alpha within the Volii star system.
How to complete Absolute Power in Starfield
Prior to embarking on your journey to Neon, it’s vital to grasp a key aspect of “Absolute Power” within Starfield: it predominantly centers around stealth.
We highly advise that you proceed solo for this mission, as companions are susceptible to detection by vigilant security patrols. Nevertheless, it’s not to suggest that completing “Absolute Power” with a companion is unfeasible; it simply amplifies the level of challenge.
Speak to Estelle Vincent
To successfully accomplish the “Absolute Power” mission, your initial destination is Neon City, nestled within the Alpha Volii sector of the Volii Star System. As you arrive, make your way to the rear of the Spaceport Terminal Elevator, where you’ll discover the entrance to Ebbside. On the opposite side of Ebbside lies Madame Suvage’s Place.
Ascend the stairs and engage in conversation with Estelle Vincent. She expresses discontent with the way the Fleet is managing the situation and reveals a crucial piece of information: to acquire the Conduction Grid technology, you’ll need to personally extract it from the Power Core facility.
Furthermore, Estelle extends an offer, proposing a sum of Credits in exchange for your assistance in infiltrating Generdyne and planting a virus to access their data.
Lastly, she advises you to commence by obtaining Ayumi Komiko’s Security Pass, providing you with vital details pertaining to the entire mission.
Locate the evidence to extort Ayumi Komiko (optional)
While you have the option to initiate a conversation with Myka first, there exists an alternative route to complete the “Absolute Power” mission in Starfield.
Upon exiting Ebbside, turn right and enter the Astral Lounge building, a familiar location from past missions such as “Sowing Discord” and “One Step Ahead” within various factions.
Utilize the elevator to ascend to the Generdyne Industries Floor. Engage in a conversation with Ji Nishida, the receptionist, and discuss the detrimental state of the industries, a result of Bayu’s sibling overseeing R&D. Ji will inquire whether he should relay this information to Bayu. The choice regarding this disclosure won’t impact the mission outcome, allowing you to decide as you see fit.
Next, inquire about Ayumi Komiko, and Ji will need some persuasion to reveal incriminating details about her. Successfully persuading Ji necessitates passing a 6-bar Persuasion check, which falls on the easier side. Begin by selecting the +2 option to unlock further possibilities, and then opt for the +5 and +1 choices to successfully complete the check.
Upon successfully persuading Ji, he will divulge that Bayu and Ayumi had a heated altercation in her office, leading to Bayu’s abrupt departure. Komiko archives all her meetings and secures them in a safe, which Ji offers to unlock for you. In return, he asks only for your discretion.
Proceed through the door adjacent to the reception area and enter Ayumi’s Office, where you’ll find the safe mounted on the wall. Exercise caution by crouching down and ensuring that you remain concealed from security as you retrieve the evidence from her safe.
Ask Myka about Ayumi Kumiko’s whereabouts
After descending to the main lobby using the elevator, veer to the right upon exiting the building. You’ll discover an alternative entrance to Ebbside through the alley on your right, which directly opens up to Euphorika.
Your next objective is to engage in a conversation with Myka, stationed behind the counter. Initially, she might be somewhat reserved with information, possibly mistaking you for a debt collector.
However, if you make it known that you represent the Crimson Fleet, she becomes more cooperative. Myka will disclose that Ayumi is presently in the Member’s Lounge, but accessing it requires payment of an entrance fee.
Invest 5,000 Credits to obtain the Euphorika Lounge Pass, allowing you to ascend and engage Ayumi in the Member’s Lounge.
In your conversation with Ayumi, inquire about gaining entry to the Generdyne Power Facility. Expect her reluctance to share this information openly. To acquire the necessary details, you’ll have to either offer her compensation or resort to more drastic measures.
Use the evidence to extort Ayumi Komiko (optional)
Once you possess the extortion material, you can activate this particular task within the Absolute Power mission in Starfield.
By leveraging the threat of exposing the evidence to SSNN, you can coerce her into surrendering the pass. This introduces a third avenue for obtaining the entrance pass to the Generdyne Power Facility, effectively sidestepping the need for payment or resorting to violence.
Should you kill Ayumi Komiko or not for the Access Key?
If you happen to have some spare Credits at your disposal, offering payment is the quickest means to achieve your objective. However, the narrative takes a drastically different turn if you choose the path of killing or extortion.
To engage in extortion with Ayumi, your initial step involves acquiring the necessary information, a process we’ve found to be relatively swift and straightforward. Opting for this approach is our recommended choice for a secure and cost-effective outcome.
Choosing the path of violence by killing her is strongly discouraged, as the repercussions far outweigh the benefits. Such an act will lead to widespread disapproval, earning you the enmity of active companions and even the UC SysDef personnel. Furthermore, it will adversely impact your chances of developing romantic relationships with certain characters in the Starfield narrative.
Enter Generdyne Power Facility
With the Generdyne Storage Room Pass key in hand, head outside and use the elevator on the right to head to the Underbelly.
Take a right and you will find the Generdyne facility at the end of your path but don’t use the front door. Instead, head to the right and you will find the Deliveries Only door that you can use to enter the Generdyne Power Core during the Absolute Power mission in Starfield.
You can choose a direct or stealth route depending on your preference as it will not have any effect on the outcome of Absolute Power in Starfield.
The direct route (guns blazing)
Utilize the vents positioned on the right side and descend through the hatch to gain access to the Generdyne Power Core. Proceed up the adjacent stairs around the corner, and you’ll encounter a black door leading to the basement stairwell in the front room.
From this point, take a right and enter the Conduit Control Room situated at the very rear, where the path ahead becomes relatively straightforward.
Stick to the right-hand side and continue onward, descending the stairs, traversing the corridor, until you reach a room equipped with an abundance of computers.
Ascend the stairs and access the Master Control Room via its door; there, you’ll locate the entrance to the Conduction Grid positioned at the lower right.
Make use of the Power Storage elevator located on your right, allowing you to reach the Conduction Grid-Lower Level.
The stealth route (no combat)
To ensure you remain undetected, adopt a crouched walking approach while navigating the area. Begin by accessing the vents on the right, dropping down the hatch, and exiting into the facility.
Proceed with caution, making your way around the corner and up the stairs. It’s essential to ensure the guard is facing away from you before entering through the door.
To reach the basement, take the stairs; however, be mindful of the robot stationed at the bottom. Wait until it moves away before proceeding.
Descend into the vents located at the base of the stairs, and open the hatch at the end to access an adjacent room.
Upon entering through the yellow door, stick to the right side and continue forward until you reach a staircase at the end of the corridor.
Descend the stairs and open the door situated at the far end; this leads to a room housing both guards and technicians.
Access the vents positioned behind the computers, proceed to the exit on the right, and wait for the guard to depart before opening the door.
Avoid using the main entrance to the Master Control Room. Instead, circle around the desk, enter through the vents, and utilize a nearby hatch to descend.
Finally, access the Power Storage area on the left to make use of the elevator, which will transport you to the Conduction Grid-Lower Level.
Talk to Breyson Bayu
After finally making it down to the main computers during the Absolute Power mission, you will be finally able to download the Conduction Grid Plans in Starfield.
Head straight after collecting the data, up the stairs, and through the door on your right. Hug the wall on the right and enter the vents at the end of the path.
Slowly move up the stairs after exiting the vents and use the door above to enter Bayu’s Office.
He will be waiting to hand over the Encryption Cypher to get back on Ben for once and even shares his terminal passkey so you can take it by yourself.
Upload Estelle’s virus
After getting the free pass from Beyson to get whatever you want from his computer, you will need to use the Chief Technician’s Computer beside him to decrypt the Conduction Grid Data and upload the Estelle’s Subsystems virus.
Take the elevator down to the lobby and you will exit out to Astral Lounge in Neon City where Benjamin Bayu will be in the first room at the right.
He will have knowledge of the virus and will want to know who put you up to the task. You will naturally have multiple ways to deal with this situation.
Should you blame Beyson, lie, or tell the truth to Benjamin Bayu?
You can lie saying it was you or Breyson or tell the truth saying it was Estelle Vincent. It will be up to you to make the decision as whatever you choose will not have any effect on the outcome of the Absolute Power mission in Starfield.
If you blame Beyson, it will take his suspicions away from the Crimson Fleet. If you blame yourself, you will have a bounty on your head. Both choices will not go down well with your companions.
If you want to increase your companion affinity levels, you need to tell the truth. This way, Estelle will be taken care of while your companions and UC SysDef in Starfield will like your choice in Absolute Power.
Report back to Estelle
Locate Estelle within the chamber situated behind the bar at Madam Suvage’s Place within Neon City. Unfortunately, the virus has lost its value to her, as Bayu has already deciphered it, and she cannot risk potential repercussions from him.
In light of her predicament, Estelle will request financial compensation, citing the failed project and the services she rendered. You have the discretion to determine the amount you’re willing to share.
Subsequently, return to the Key at Kryx and engage in a conversation with Naeva, who will guide you to the Repair Bay as per Delgado’s request. Armed with these final instructions, you will have successfully concluded the Absolute Power mission in the world of Starfield.
Absolute Power mission bugs and fixes
Towards the conclusion of the Absolute Power mission in Starfield, some players have encountered a rare bug. This issue occurs when docking onto the Kryx, causing the user interface (UI) to vanish, effectively trapping the player inside the cockpit. Unfortunately, there is currently no available information regarding the cause of this bug or any known methods for resolving it.
Starfield – Absolute Power mission rewards
