Qualcomm , one of the semiconductor chip manufacturers , recently introduced new chipsets focused on the wearable technologies market. Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 and Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 are a family of mobile chipsets produced on the 4nm process and targeting wearable technologies.
The new generation chipset family will provide up to twice the performance, consuming 50 percent less power when compared to the Snapdragon Wear 4100+ platform. In typical scenarios, the W5+ will take up 30 percent less space than previous generations, providing up to 50 percent longer battery life.
At the same time, Qualcomm stated that they will cooperate closely with Google to optimize WearOS, the operating system that Google is developing for wearable devices, to new chipsets.
What are the differences between Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 and W5+ Gen 1?
Coming to the differences between the two chipsets, the non-Plus model also lacks the AON Coprocessor. Since it will not save extra power, entry-level and mid-range devices will be equipped with the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset.
