Netflix Games interested less than 1% of subscribers

Netflix Games interested less than 1% of subscribers

Last November, the Netflix Games add-on service was launched, through which subscribers can experience a number of video games available in the library at no additional charge. Regardless of the giant’s intentions to attract new users or retain old ones, these efforts seem to come to nothing. A CBNC report shows that out of 221 million Netflix subscribers, on average, only 1.7 million regularly play the games offered on the platform. In other words, this represents less than 1% of subscribers.

The analysis also shows that despite low popularity, Netflix Games has not gone unnoticed. Indeed, the games on offer have been downloaded 23.3 million times. Details, including the number of downloads per person, are unknown. The report also does not indicate how many users log into their Netflix account each day. Ignoring this, it can be concluded that the gaming offer has not been very attractive to gamers, and other subscribers rarely turn to this form of entertainment. The information is consistent with data provided by Apptopia, a global app tracking tool.

Netflix games – what does it have to do with it?

Netflix games are an optional service included with your Netflix subscription. The current offer includes 26 games including Moonlighter, Into the Breach or Asphalt Xtreme. In addition, the service offers two games based on the original and acclaimed Stranger Things series. We are talking about Stranger Things: 1984 and Stranger Things 3: The Game. The number and volume of games on offer is not very impressive, but the company’s plans for the future are ambitious. By the end of 2022, Netflix plans to significantly expand its catalog with more than 50 games expected.

The current price list for the entire service is divided into three packages:

  • Basic – $7.99/month, SD image quality and 1 screen.
  • Standard – $9.99/month , Full HD image quality and 2 screens.
  • Premium – $14.99/month, 4K/HDR quality and 4 screens.

It should be noted that prices and services may change in the near future. Netflix is testing additional account-sharing fees, which could mean big changes to the platform over time.
