Before the release of Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One , the authors of the game from the Frogwares studio claimed that they were creating a separate project that did not involve direct sequels. But everything flows, everything changes, and now the fastest-selling game in the series “unexpectedly” drew a direct sequel: Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened .
This name may sound familiar to some, and for good reason: the new Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened is a remake of the 2006 game, the third Sherlock Holmes adventure from Frogwares. It’s just that then it was a story about the adult Holmes and Watson colliding with the myths of Lovecraft, and now it will be the story of a young Sherlock going on a mission with Watson for the first time a few years after the events of Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One.
A remake of Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened is the same game that was announced in May under the name Project Palianytsia . More linear and, to a fair extent, pre-written, which should help the Ukrainian studio with development in difficult conditions. Of course, this is still a new game, built on Unreal Engine 4, partially rewritten, re-voiced, equipped with previously missing side quests and a number of modern mechanics. But at the core, this is still the same gloomy story loved by the fans of the series with the same central cases and a set of locations.
The authors promise to publish a trailer and a detailed analysis of the changes with the start of the Kickstarter fundraiser – and yes, the Frogwares team decided to fund the remake for crowdfunding.
