Fortnite is losing popularity on Twitch

Fortnite is losing popularity on Twitch

Fortnite is no longer the most popular game on Twitch. The name Epic Games is still of interest, but it is far behind GTA 5, LoL and Valorant.

Over the years, Fortnite has enjoyed huge (perhaps even too much) popularity, attracting crowds of players and spectators. However, interest in the Epic Games title is slowly declining.

At the time of publishing this news, the game had 29.3 thousand viewers, which gave it the ninth position on the platform – or eighth, if you exclude the “Just Chat” category. The average daily viewership of Fornite streaming in July is better (according to Stream Charts), but over 64,000 viewers is still a significant drop from previous months.

Moreover, in terms of peak attendance, July 2022 was the worst period for Epic Games production in years. The fact is, more than 237 thousand viewers at the same time is still an excellent result. With the exception that Fortnite managed to attract 933 thousand users a month earlier, and back in December 2021, the game was streamed by more than 1.3 million concurrent viewers.

The deterioration of the form is also visible in other statistics. In July, Twitch users watched just under 48 million hours of broadcasts from Fortnite. This marks the first time this year that Epic Games’ creatives have fallen below 50 million hours, and the first half of 2022 was by no means one of the best in game history.

LoL and Valorant, or how Riot Games overthrow Epic Games

Of course, it’s too early to say that Fortnite’s time is coming to an end. The game is still in the top ten most played games on Twitch, leaving Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Genshin Impact far behind.

However, it is clear that the work of Epic Games is no longer the undisputed leader and even a contender for the title of the most popular video game in the world. Hardly surprising, given that the battle royale market is getting more competitive and veterans like League of Legends and Grand Theft Auto V aren’t going anywhere.

Also, Valorant has finally carved out a market position for itself, even attracting some streamers known from other games (including Fortnite). Add to this the relentless popularity of LoL, Riot Games could claim to be the publisher with the largest audience on Twitch, something Epic Games has long boasted.
