Dreams Runs On PS4 Pro and Can’t Maintain 60 FPS
Dreams is one of the most ambitious games on the PS4 edition. This even supports the PS4 Pro but obviously it can’t sustain 60 FPS while providing a higher frame rate.
Digital Foundry shared their technical review of Dreams running on both the PS4 base and the PS4 Pro version. The game runs at a dynamic resolution, and enabled frame rate on the PS4, according to their findings.
Dreams provides two different output modes on the PS4 Pro while the standard PS4 doesn’t seem to deliver anything. Another runs at a low resolution while the other runs at a low frame rate with a dynamic 1080p target resolution. The game does not manage to run a locked 60 FPS, despite targeting 1080p at a dynamic resolution. For some of the big single-player game sequences, it runs at this frame rate but does not hold it steady in all of them.
Media Molecule has also teased long-term support for Dreams which extends to the PS5. PS5 could be the only way to experience their ambitious offering in locked 60 FPS as it is not possible on either the PS4 or PS4 Pro.
