Console versions are also canceled

Battalion 1944 was published under the umbrella of Square Enix Collective, Square Enix’s indie game-focused brand, and entered early access in 2018. In fact, Square Enix bought 20% of the game’s developer Bulkhead towards the end of 2018.

However, Battalion 1944’s player count began to decline, and the console version promised in the successful Kickstarter campaign in 2016 was not released. Bulkhead announced today that they have canceled the console versions and terminated their relationship with Square Enix.

We’re very disappointed that Battalion 1944 isn’t coming to consoles, and we’re going to issue a refund to all console Kickstarter donors. Thank you to everyone who donated for the console version, and we’re sorry it took so long to get this done properly.”

The final reworked version of Battalion 1944 will be released completely free of charge as Battalion: Legacy . This is not an F2P game, it is indeed free. In this new version, Britain will be added as a playable faction, as well as more than 30 weapons and various improvements.
