The Season 5 update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will release on August 2, bringing with it new weapons, maps, game modes and events. After the recent The Boys update, this will be the next big patch for the game. In this guide, I talked about all the new maps coming in MW2 Season 5.
New maps for Season 5 of Modern Warfare 2
Three new destinations will be added to the roster of core 6v6 maps this season. These include Punta Mar, Strike and DRC Zone 1. Additionally, two new maps will be added to the 2v2 Gunfight rotation: Channel and Lounge. Now let’s look at these cards individually.
New main maps for Season 5 of Modern Warfare 2 (6v6)
- Punta Mar (at launch) : Punta Mar is a brand new map in the CoD franchise. This is a location from the Las Almas region of Mexico from the MW2 campaign. The battle takes place up and down the hill of a small town filled with small buildings, streets and alleys.
- Strike (at launch) : Players will also be able to see an updated version of the Strike map from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Whether you’ve played this map before or not, I think you’ll have a good time playing it.
- DRC – Zone 1 (Seasonal) >: This will be a small map designed for fast-paced action and combat. DMZ players may be familiar with DRC Building 21. It appears that a new section of this research facility will be opened on the DRC – Zone 1 map.
New skirmish maps for Season 5 of Modern Warfare 2 (2v2)
Both Lounge and Canal will be new additions to the small squad game mode. You can see most of the territory of these maps in the images above. Although Lounge is a completely new project, Canal seems familiar to me as it is taken from the city of Vondel featured in Warzone 2 and DMZ.
In Season 5, the new Al Mazra location is not being added for large scale play. Ground War and Invasion modes. However, these modes already have a good list of maps that should keep players interested. Choose your side in the upcoming Faction Showdown LTM between Task Force 141 and Shadow Company.
